Chimney Swift

About the Chimney Swift

Almost never lands, even sleeping and bathing on the wing. Cannot perch upright, so clings to vertical walls such as chimneys, hence the name. Before European settlement it nested inside hollow trees. Thousands roost together in unused chimneys during migration.
