Black-capped Chickadee

About the Black-capped Chickadee

A walnut-weight ball of energy that names itself with a chick-a-dee-dee call. Extra dee syllables signal greater danger. Hides thousands of seeds and remembers each location for weeks. Enters regulated hypothermia on winter nights to save energy.
