About the Wood Duck
The most ornate duck in North America, males wearing iridescent green crests. Nests in tree cavities up to 15 meters high. Ducklings leap from the nest within a day of hatching, bouncing safely to the ground. Recovered from near extinction thanks to nest box programs.
