About the Trumpeter Swan
The heaviest native bird of North America, weighing up to 13 kg. Hunted nearly to extinction for feathers and skin by 1900, down to a few dozen known birds. Intense conservation restored thousands across the northwest. The deep honking call gives the species its name.
