Sandhill Crane

About the Sandhill Crane

Fossils show nearly identical cranes 2.5 million years ago, among the oldest of living bird species. Half a million stage along the Platte River each spring, one of the great wildlife spectacles on Earth. Pairs dance in leaps and bows year-round. Bugling rattles carry for kilometers.
