About the Red Knot
Migrates up to 15,000 km from the high Arctic to Tierra del Fuego. Times refueling on Delaware Bay to horseshoe crab egg laying, nearly doubling weight in two weeks. Declining as crab harvests shrink this crucial food supply. One banded bird named Moonbird flew a lifetime distance equal to the moon and back.
