About the Eurasian Hoopoe
An unmistakable bird with a fan of cinnamon crest feathers and zebra wings. Named for its soft hoo-poo-poo call. Chicks spray foul fluid and hiss like snakes to repel intruders. Probes soil with a curved bill for grubs. Sacred in ancient Egypt and mentioned in the Quran.
