American Goldfinch

About the American Goldfinch

Among the strictest vegetarian birds, delaying nesting until thistle seeds ripen in mid summer. Males molt into lemon yellow breeding plumage and olive drab in winter. Flight call sounds like po-ta-to-chip. Flocks empty nyjer feeders in minutes.
